The Kayak Mothership in Snow in SE Alaska

This was an early start for us (a friends and family trip) and the weather good but the snow level was low.

Bears and Wolves

One of the first anchorages downbay was full of black bears digging mussels and clams, and wolves watching and sometimes challenging.

You need to look hard to see the two wolves.  One to the right of the bear and the other in the grass.  At one point we had 5 wolves in the frame.

Mountain Goats

It is hard to shoot these guys without a lense the size of the Hubbell Telescope.  So, this is just a "memory photo."  We know those little white dots are goats.  hah!

Where is Everyone in SE Alaska?

It is not uncommon to not see anyone else but this first outing was almost erie how alone we were.

 

 

 

 

 

The nesting Oyster Catchers do not mind the solitude.  Note: this was taken with a very large lense.

 

 

George Has a Summer Do

He might have wished I had waited until we got to Alaska to get him a haircut.  Temperatures at night were in the 30s!
